I’STASSOLYE: An Exploration of Exquisite Aggregation
Exhibition Opening Reception: Friday, November 30, 2012 7:00-10:00 PM
Stop by for an eclectic mixed-media exhibition with nods to Dadaist assemblage, magical realism and performance — all from the contemporary viewpoints of six emerging Houston artists! Exhibition will run from Friday, November 30th, 2012 to Friday, January 11th, 2013. Arrive hungry! Bites provided by Speers Rolling Bistro; wash it all down with beer from Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company.
For more info, please visit Caroline Collective!

I’m sorry that my Tumblr is pretty much turning into some sort of self-promotion tool, but I mean.. It’s my blog & it’s the internet, so yeah.
Anyway, here’s another exhibition I’m going to be in! It’s THIS WEEK at Caroline Collective, so if you’re going to be in Houston, please be sure to check it out! I’ll be showing ALL NEW WORK, alongside the wonderful AFTK! and my other awesomely talented & amazing colleagues: Monica Foote (our curator), Maggie Hooyman, Alyssa Stephens, and Alonso Tapia.
Again, thanks for all the wonderful support, y’all!

I still can’t believe this is literally days away! I’m exhibiting alongside a group of extremely talented individuals, including SANS-HTX, this upcoming Friday. For all you Houston folk, feel free to come out, see our work, and have a beer with us.

Anonymous: Hi there, I was just wondering... approximately how much did your screen printing setup cost? were the burner, frames and squeegee included? ps. i love your work!

Hey there, Anonymous. I get that question every now and then and it’s actually hard to answer. My setup isn’t so much a set as it is cobbled together. The press I have was used but it’s a tabletop that I think is originally from ebay. I think the cost of the press new is around $400. I got a super deal on the flash dryer and squeegees from a guy liquidating his business (and honestly can’t remember how much I paid). For a long time I printed small and used a heat gun. That got old fast, but it does work. I use a modified lighting system as an exposure unit. Screens are around $30 a pop but are fairly durable and should last you a good number of jobs. Thanks for stopping by!

I bought myself a chalkboard so I figured I’d give it a little test drive with a little “note to self.” It’s a bit on the clumsy side of things, but it’s a start.

anti-deity:

Stills from my stop-motion animation, Sincerely,(2012).

Uploading the video as soon as Vimeo is done converting it.

In the mean time, check out some of my other videos & experimental film work here while everything in still up. I’ll be removing everything from my Vimeo account entirely & setting up short excerpt clips in place of my work pretty soon.

I’m starting to get a bit more serious about what I’ve been doing lately, and I’d like to make the full length versions of my work available through/viewed at screenings, and HOPEFULLY film festivals.

Here’s to the future.
